Trash Service

Trash service for Nottingham Downs residents is provided by Republic Services, and regular pickup in our neighborhood is on Wednesday. Your trash cart should be placed at the curb or edge of the street, with the handles facing your house and the opening facing toward the street. Yard waste needs to be placed in paper bags, not carts/bins.  Remember that Republic Services start early, so you need to have your trash by the curb by 7:00 am on Wednesday mornings.

Service will be delayed by one day for the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Independence Day [In 2020, there will be no delay in trash service.]

  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Christmas Day

Yard Waste Pickup

Yard waste collection during the winter:

  • New in 2020 - yard waste pick up each week (same as trash service)

  • Place yard waste (10 bag maximum) away from trash bins to allow easy access to the bins by the trash service vehicle.

Yard waste needs to be placed in paper bags, not carts/bins.   Click here for more details.

Recycling is collected on a weekly basis. Typically, the following items can be recycled:

  • Newspaper

City Ordinance Reminder

The city of Overland Park dictates that trash containers should be stored on the side of the house or in an enclosed structure. Also, on collection days, trash, recycling and yard waste bags should be placed at the curb, not in the street or on/blocking the sidewalk.

The city of Overland Park provides its residents with pickup service for over-sized items. Half of the city is serviced each year. Antioch serves as the dividing line, and Nottingham Downs is served in odd-numbered years.
